Urgent message re: female childhood abuse survivors on disability benefits

Dear WinVisible,

“I’m writing to ask for your help, as a disabled survivor of extreme, life threatening and sadistically violent childhood abuse that lasted from my birth until I ran away at 16.

I have not and will never recover from this or the Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder that is the result, so I’m in receipt of ESA and PIP; but I’m living in a constant state of fear and renewed trauma every single day owing to the Government’s behaviour in deliberately whipping up a hate campaign against disabled people.

On the one hand, they are threatening to remove my only possible income and publicly describing claimants, including survivors of childhood abuse,  as liars, fraudsters, cheats, thieves, gamers of the system and worthless drains on the economy; but they are ALSO failing to lift the continual barriers that survivors of childhood abuse, especially physical torture and violent assault as in my case, face when trying to access justice and compensation so that they can try to rebuild their lives.

In addition to which, they are not even talking about the impact of their proposals upon survivors of childhood abuse; even though it is now common knowledge that threatening the survival of people in this situation is essentially a renewal of the original abuse.

So once again people in my situation find ourselves suffering,  afraid, alone and ignored by the very people who should be supporting and protecting us.

Please can you help to make this public so that the Government can no longer conveniently ignore the damage that they are doing, as if we do not even exist?”

Best wishes,

X
