Dear Disabled Resident of the Royal Borough of Greenwich

Are you aware that the Royal Borough of Greenwich (RBG) plans to raise the charges to Disabled People for all the services that Adult Social Care provides and assists us with? Crucially this could tip some Disabled People over the edge and be the difference between some people being here in 2020, or not.

We have campaigned against these proposals for 10 months. And now we meet RBG once again at the Healthier Communities and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Panels on Weds Jan 8th and Thurs Jan 9th, at 6.30pm-9.30pm, in Rooms 4&5 at Woolwich Town Hall on both days. We need to persuade them to reverse their decision, it is our only chance, we need to STOP these proposals dead in their tracks, and time is running out!

We therefore invite YOU to a Workshop Rally on:

Fri Jan 3rd 3.30pm-6pm

to consolidate and continue to build our case for the two Scrutiny Panels. There will be:-

Refreshments; capacity-building, sharing and planning including Jenny Hurst’s workshop on the Real Impact of Greenwich’s proposed charges. And full details of what we must do to STOP them!

Additionally there will be a hands-on practical guidance to claiming back some (if not all) of your Disability Related Expenses (D.R.E.). {You are already able to claim back a large proportion of the money you pay out for essential disability-related items e.g. pads, protective gloves, meds etc (see leaflet by REAL Tower Hamlets). Just in case no one has ever told, you we will explain how! So if you already know about RBG’s dangerous proposals for Adult Social Care or not, we need to ACT together NOW, and this is the place to start !!!

Fighting together we can (and must) prove to RBG how catastrophic it will be for them to plough ahead with these proposals without listening to the Disabled People affected. Please join us.

RSVP to greenwichdpac@gmail.com as soon as you can:  please also fill in the quick Questionnaire about how you will be affected by RBG’s proposals for us to add your information (anonymously) to the facts we present to the Scrutiny Panels. Please return that too to greenwichdpac@gmail.com or to Metro-GAD SE18 6FH; or you can complete it online at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/W2Y8Z2R

OR you are welcome to hand it in to us on Fri Jan 3rd at Metro-GAD at the Workshop Rally.

Thank you? Happy New Year  from Sue Elsegood,  Eleanor Lisney, Jenny Hurst, Kate Brown, Claire Glasman and Anne Novis MBE
